Guide to the Aloes of South Africa (third edition), by Ben-Erik van Wyk and Gideon F. Smith.
The first 37 pages of this beautiful and useful Briza publication are a very interesting introduction to aloes, their medicinal and cosmetic use, their cultivation, gardening with them, other aloe-like plants, their propagation, and conservation. There are 345 pages of species accounts which are beautiful, informative and well laid out - but grouped so well that it makes the identification, which is sometimes a bit confusing, a lot easier. This is a great gift for anyone interested in the many interesting and beautiful aloe species around us.
