Hartebeespoort. - "Nou ja, ek beskou vegetari?rs as plantmoordenaars. Erger as vleiseters, want hulle pik op die mees weerlose wesens, wat nie eens kan skee of weghol nie. 
Die tipe uitlatings is aan die orde van die dag in prof. Erik Holm, bekende entomoloog, wetenskaplike en skrywer, se nuutste boek, Natuur-lik, wat gister in Hartebeespoort bekend gestel is. Die boek is 'n bundel van die gewilde Beeld-rebrieke Wereld om ons wat die afgelope vier jaar gepubliseer is. "En enkele nuwes wat ek goed gedink het om by te voeg", sê Holm. 

Die idee vir die boek het onstaan vanwe? die hoeveelheid navrae wat hy ontvang het na aanleiding van die rebriek gekry het. "Of mens het die rebriek nie gesien nie, of hulle het die knipsel verloor, of hulle onthou later iets wat ek geskryf het en dan moet ek verduidelik ek het nie 'n biblioteek met kopie? nie. 

"Koerante is tydelike goed en toe sien ek ook almal wat ook nonsens skryf, soos Koos Kombuis, publiseer boeke, en besluit toe om my nonsens ook in 'n boek te sit. 
Die eerste uitgewer wat ek met die idee genader het, het egter gesê daar is genoeg van die nonsens op die rakke, maar ek is seker hulle is nou spyt."

Holm het self die prettige illustrasies in die boek geteken. "Dit was terapie-illustrasies toe my seun, Erik verlede jaar sy nek gebreek het. Ek het die goed geteken en dan vir hom in die hospitaal geneem om voor te lag."
Onder die talle 'groen' (waaroor Holm hom ook in die boek uitspreek) gaste wat die geleentheid bygewoon het, was Johan Botha van 50/50en die bekende botanis prof. Ben-Erik van Wyk van die Universiteit van Johannesburg.
