Muti en mites uit Afrika (Muthi and Myths from the African Bush) bevat 52 boeiende verhale wat die lewer op 'n ondekkingstog deur Afrika neem. Dit vat die spoor van die antieke grail van tradisionele Afrika-medisyne en -muti. Die tog duur een jaar, met een verhaal vir elke week van die jaar. Baie verhale wat deur mondelinge oorlewering bewaar is, word die eerste keer geboekstaaf.

Heather Dugmore is 'n Johannesburgse joernalis met van Suid-Afrika se voorste perstoekennings op haar kerfstok. Skrywer Ben-Erik van Wyk, professor in plantkunde aan die Universiteit van Johannesburg, is 'n wetenskaplike maar ook 'n storieverteller en -versamelaar.
